World In Your Backpack & Anya
Our mission is to promote travel around the world, and keep students and adults alike interested in social, educational, and fun travel.
Traveling is Social, Educational, and Fun!
Hi! Welcome to World In Your Backpack! My name is Anya and I am 15 years old. My family and I have always had the passion and love to travel. My 12 year old sister, Annika, and I have always been taught to give back to the local communities that we travel to and help the environment around us. And we do. It’s so much fun to travel and see the world, but at the same time learn so many people’s amazing stories and experience other cultures. It’s a gift to see the joy and laughter of others when they are given a better life with your help.
We have lived over-seas as expats for two years, and learned a lot during that time. We saw many things while living away from “home”. One of the best things that we had the chance to do, was travel. A LOT. We had the opportunity to not only learn about but also experience and see other cultures and traditions. This opened my eyes to many different things, and made me worldly wiser. I am ever so grateful for all of the experiences that I had overseas, as they changed me as a person and how I viewed the world.
In 15 years of my life, I have moved 5 times. every two years until I was 11 years old. Due to my father’s job, we moved overseas as expats for two years, away from the USA. Those two years living abroad opened my eyes up to so many things. Living in America for my life that far, I had appreciation for all of the things that I had, but not as much appreciation as I should have. Even eating something as simple as a nice, juicy, sweet orange was a privilege living abroad. Traveling the world opens your eyes to so many new things, but actually living abroad on an assignment for two years opens your eyes even wider.
My family and I now live in Seattle, Washington. We love it here. FUN FACT: Every Spring Break that my sister and I have, we take shorter road trips to neighboring places of Seattle. On my Seattle page, you will see a lot of smaller, shorter trips that you can easily make from Seattle. Two of my favorite and most memorable Spring Break trips from Seattle, was when we went to Pullman, which is a few hours’ drive from Seattle. Another trip that we loved was going to Mount Washington, BC which is a bit farther. You can read about Seattle and those trips HERE.
I love hearing from all of you, and getting to share your travel adventures! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or stories!
